Mentorship |
Would you be interested in the opportunity to make a positive impact on a college student? If so, we are looking for volunteers to participate in the SMU Mentor Program.
Below is a brief description of the program, the criteria for a mentor and attached in an application to apply.
Submission of the Mentor Application is due to Cindy Beavers by July 31, 2007. You can email Cindy at CBEAVERS@steelcase.com.
SMU Cox School of Business mentoring program was created to match Cox BBA students (Junior and Senior-level) in one-on-one mentoring relationships with executives from the DFW area. The program, titled the Business Associate Program was launched in 1989. In this unique program, students and mentors decide how they want to structure the relationship, how often they should meet, and what they hope to gain from the relationship. Most BBAs have not yet started a career, and many haven’t decided what career path is right for them. Meeting with a mentor at his or her office puts students in a business environment where they can learn, practice, and make mistakes. As a result, they’re better prepared for job interviews and the demands of the workplace.
Students are required to spend a minimum of 3 hours a month with their mentor.
Orientation for program is August 20th or August 21st from 6-8pm.
